WFOR Confirms: Folbaum Replacing Rodriguez at 5:00 and 11:00 p.m.

We reported a couple of weeks ago that Rick Folbaum was leaving FOX news to anchor at WFOR the CBS owned station in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, but didn’t know which newscasts he would anchor. Now we know.

WFOR has confirmed, beginning August 26 Folbaum will anchor the station’s 5:00 and 11:00 p.m. newscast, moving veteran anchor Eliott Rodriguez to the Noon and 6:00 p.m. shows.

“I am thrilled to be joining the distinguished news team at CBS4,” Folbaum said in a statement. “Everyone in the news business knows that South Florida is one of the best news markets in the country. I’ve spent lots of time in this area ever since I was a kid. My wife and I are looking forward to raising our own children in this dynamic and diverse community.”

Rodriguez, who has been at WFOR since 1999 had been bumped off the 5:00 and 11:00 p.m. desk once before when Antonio Mora joined the station in 2008. He reclaimed the chair in 2011 when Mora was moved to the 6:00 p.m. show. Mora left WFOR in December 2012 and made the jump to Al Jazeera America in July.

Folbaum started at FOX News in 1996 and left briefly for an anchor job at WNYW in 2006. He returned to FOX in 2009 as anchor of “America’s News Headquarters” on Saturdays.
