WGHP Photog Chased, Hit With Stick, by Disgruntled Horse Owner
Chris Weaver, a cameraman for WGHP-TV (FOX8), was shooting video alongside a public road in Davidson County, North Carolina this afternoon when a man came at him with a pail of horsefeed and a really long stick.
The station had received a news tip about concerns over the welfare of two horses owned by Danny Kirkus. Not long after Weaver set up and hit “record” Kirkus came at him.
He swung twice, hitting Weaver once on the lower leg. He’s not seriously injured.
Kirkus was arrested and charged with two felonies including assault with a deadly weapon.
