WISH Anchor Debby Knox Announces Retirement

WISH_knox_Debby Knox, anchor for Indianapolis CBS affiliate WISH, has announced her retirement after more than 33 years on air in Indiana.

“It’s been a wonderful opportunity to be part of the community as well as an incredible journey to cover the important events and people over my career at WISH-TV,” Knox said in a statement.

Knox started her career in the South Bend-Ekhart, IN market. According to WISH, she is the “longest running female news anchor in Central Indiana” and is eclipsed for the overall title by former WISH anchor Mike Ahern who retired in 2004.

“It is with mixed emotions that we say so long,” Jeff White, WISH president and general manager, said in a statement. “While we’re sad to see her retire, we’re happy for the next chapter in her life and the additional time she’ll have to spend with her family.”

Knox currently anchors the 6:00, 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. newscasts. The Emmy award winning anchor started anchoring the station’s noon show in 1980. Her last newscast will be November 26.
