WMAQ Sports Anchor Paula Faris Joining ABC News
Sports anchor Paula Faris is leaving NBC owned-and-operated WMAQ in Chicago to anchor “World News Now” on ABC News, according to Time Out Chicago‘s Robert Feder.
Although ABC News has not yet confirmed Faris’ hire, the sports anchor told Feder she will leave WMAQ when her contract expires in December for a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
“Until my final day on the air at NBC 5, I promise to tell the untold stories and do my job to the very best of my ability,” Faris said.
Faris is the second WMAQ journalist to join ABC News in recent months. Weekend meteorologist Ginger Zee is reportedly joining “Good Morning America” next month. WMAQ’s morning anchor, Zoraida Sambolin, is also leaving the station, reportedly bound for CNN.
