WNYW’s Linda Schmidt Says Reporters Urged Breitbart to Take Podium at Weiner Press Conference
As journalists and TV viewers waited for Congressman Anthony Weiner to take the stage Monday afternoon at a scheduled press conference, many were shocked to see Andrew Breitbart, the man behind the website that had posted inappropriate photos of Weiner, standing at the podium.
So what led Breitbart, Public Enemy No. 1 of the Weiner camp, to take the stage in advance of the disgraced congressman?
According to WNYW‘s Linda Schmidt, Breitbart was asked to take the podium by journalists in attendance.
On the Fox O&O’s 10 p.m. newscast last night, Schmidt said that Breitbart had flown into town for the press conference and reporters awaiting Weiner’s appearance began asking him questions, eventually urging him to stand at the podium.
“We asked him to go to the podium so he did,” Schmidt told anchors Ernie Anastos and Dari Alexander.
