WPVI Launching Newscast to Replace ‘Oprah’
Philadelphia’s WPVI is filling Oprah‘s soon-to-be-departed 4 p.m. timeslot with a new, one-hour newscast.
“We’ve been building to this date for almost a year now, and we’re ready,” said Bernie Prazenica, WPVI’s president and general manager, promising that the 4 p.m. “Action News” newscast would be more interactive.
The 4 p.m. show will be manned by anchors Brian Taff, Shirleen Allicot, Alicia Vitarelli and meteorologist Adam Joseph.
The newscast will feature a mix of hard news and lifestyle coverage through a lineup of franchise segments including “Facebook Flash,” part of WPVI’s push to interact with viewers through social media. The new show will debut on May 26th.
