Raleigh Station Unveils Its Sand Desk

Raleigh, NC, CBS affiliate WRAL has a warm weather answer to the ice desk it built this winter. Meet the WRAL Sand Desk.

“Why stay inside on these great summer days when we can be outside and still bring you the news and weather? ” the station writes on its website. “That’s where the WRAL Sand Desk comes in. It’s a news desk made completely out of sand!”

The station promises to use the set over the next few weeks and said it took two days and six tons of sand to build what they’re calling the “piece of functional art.”

The desk even has its own facebook page and twitter handle.
