A Look at Barbie from All Sides

As we’d reported previously, the iconic Barbie is turning 50 this year. And despite some recent uncomfortable press for Mattel with the revelation that the doll’s designer, Jack Ryan, was “a full blown seventies-style swinger,” the birthday celebrations are continued as planned. To honor the anniversary, our friends at designboom have put together this great look at the whole picture of Barbie, from a collection of images profiling the changes the toy has undergone over the years, to the design of new fashions and accessories to the most interesting section: the very assembly of the doll in a Mattel factory in Seoul, Korea.
