In what we suspect was a last-minute attempt to fatten up her competition at Flushing Meadows, Maria Sharapova has taken a page from Heidi Klum‘s book and launched her own line of candy. The tennis star recently debuted her Sugarpova sweets at New York’s Henri Bendel department store. Described in press materials as “an accessible bit of luxury” that shares Sharapova’s blend of style and substance, the candy comes in flavors ranging from “flirty” (gummy lips) and “quirky” (striped strawberry and vanilla chews) to “spooky” (fruit-flavored gummy tarantulas) and “sporty” (gumballs shaped like tennis balls). Says the candy-loving tennis player, “I confess to having a sweet tooth that knows what it wants!” And that’s gummy stilettos, handbags, and sunglasses.
