We admit that J. Crew's spring catalogs shot on location at Richard Neutra's legendary Kauffman House in Palm Springs made us even more eager than usual to snap up sherbet-hued sheath dresses (a category in which frankly, we had already cornered the market). And thanks to Christie's, next month we'll have the opportunity to purchase the house itself! Now all we need is an estimated $15 million to $25 million. (For that price, it better come with those adorable kids in embroidered chino shorts sitting calmly on child-sized Bertoia chairs.)

Christie's will auction the Kauffman House on the night of its May 13 postwar and contemporary evening sale in New York City. The 1946 modernist masterpiece (check out Christie's video tour) was the winter desert retreat of department store magnate Edgar J. Kaufmann. And when he grew tired of cacti and sliding glass doors, Kauffmann could just hop a plane to Pittsburgh and head to his weekend house, better known as "Fallingwater." Of course, the question on our inquiring minds is: if J. Crew CEO Mickey Drexler springs for the Kauffman House, can he write it off as a business expense?
