When Architects Speak, You Listen
Two things we love to hear: designers talking about their work and lectures that share their wisdom with a greater audience through the magic of podcasts. The Architectural League's Emerging Voices series highlights architects who are just beginning to get noticed for their contributions. The first two podcasts from last week's presentation are currently posted (go here and click on the firm's name to find the podcasts): Mimi Hoang and Eric Bunge of nArchitects talk about projects like their raver-inspired "Canopy" featured at MoMA/P.S. 1 (above), which was made out of green bamboo that changed colors as it dried throughout the summer. Teddy Cruz of estudio talks about how border relations and immigration influence the remarkable sustainable and low-income housing he's producing for communities in both San Diego and Tijuana. This week's lecture features Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang and Annie Han & Daniel Mihalyo of Lead Pencil Studio. They're even doing a two-city tour, so you can catch it live in DC or NYC.
