  • Parsons The New School for Design is gearing up for its first Parsons Festival, a two-week design and arts bonanza that kicks off on Saturday. Highlights include exhibitions of work by students across Parsons, a symposium on technology’s potential to radically transform the human condition, and a daylong block party on Saturday, May 21.   • Meanwhile, further downtown, the Festival of Ideas for the New City is underway, and the Saturday Streetfest promises everything from a solar-powered film tent and a truck farm to the mobile gallery known as Art Cart NYC and sermons from anti-consumerism crusader Reverend Billy. Go for the on-tap kombucha, stay for the Gotham-themed Pecha Kucha, which is expected to go ‘til 3am. 
  • Earlier this year, amidst a brand shakeup, Gap decided to make New York “the global epicenter for creativity for Gap brand.” Today the company announced that designer Patrick Robinson is out as executive vice president of Gap Global Design for Adult and Body. A search is underway for his successor.
