All Hail the Artek Pavilion and the Dornbracht Edges Farm
Nestled in the Palm Lot were two of the coolest little spots in all of Design Miami. The transcendent Artek Pavilion gathers reclaimed Alvar Aalto pieces (fitted with RFID chips so you can "read" their provenance) in a shelter designed by Shigeru Ban. The shelter itself is made with a wood-plastic composite made from surplus self-adhesive label material. "Smells a little like wet socks," declared one partyhopper.
But our hands-down favorite stop was the Farm, where Mike Meire built a working kitchen to showcase the Dornbracht Edges fixtures, complete with chefs chopping away. Gorgeous space, but a bit too much taxidermy hanging from the eaves for our tastes.
The goats, however, were alive. Email This Post |
