Barbie Designer, Jack Ryan, Revealed as ‘A Full-Blown Seventies-Style Swinger’

While Bratz creator Carter Bryant stirred things up by proving that he has some trouble remembering who he has worked for and when, he apparently can’t hold a candle to Jack Ryan, the designer behind Bratz’s chief competitor, Barbie. The new book Toy Monster: The Big, Bad World of Mattel, author Jerry Oppenheimer has claimed that Ryan was “a full-blown Seventies-style swinger” complete with lots of prostitution experience and “wild orgies” on a regular basis. What’s more, he apparently based his designs for Barbie off of a composite of several high-price call girls he regularly employed. All of these details are sure to help the book fly off the shelves, while creating many late nights for Mattel‘s public relations department as they near Barbie’s upcoming 50th anniversary.
