Blair Kamin Picks Reasons Why Chicago Should Be Optimistic About Architecture in ’09

While it seems like we’ve heard nothing but a depressing stream of stories about how badly the architecture industry is doing, the Chicago Tribune‘s resident critic, Blair Kamin, is feeling pretty positive at the moment, at least for Chicago. He’s released his top ten things to watch for in 2009 here in town, from the new Renzo Piano-designed wing of the Art Institute finally opening, to Zaha Hadid and Ben van Berkyl‘s temporary pavilions going up this summer, all a part of the 100th anniversary of Daniel Burnham‘s Plan of Chicago celebrations. So while the world crumbles outside our cozy walls, this writer, for one, is happy to be a Chicagoan right now.
