Charles Saatchi Gets Photoshopped Again and Again for New Book
Charles Saatichi, art collector extraodinaire and founder of a famous ad agency that shares not just one, but two of his last names (the other one belongs to his brother), has been the focus of a send-up in the form of "a book which features 101 different photographs of [Saatchi] wearing a variety of silly and sinister costumes." The book in question, entitled HIM was created by Robert Gordon McHarg III in response to Saatchi snapping up works of art everywhere and playing with that market, twisting it in his own favor. The photos are absurdly wonderful and we're thinking of ordering a copy of it for ourselves. Maybe two. Here's some: In recent years he has become a reclusive but intriguing figure. His influence to form opinion and success on new artists is unparalleled, his reputation as quietly moving through studios, galleries and art fairs, snapping up those that take his interest and dropping those of who he has had enough, makes him equally loved and loathed. Who better to transform into many wonderful disguises as HIM. This is a humorous subversion of the art world, where the artist takes matters into his own hands -- and collects the collector.
