The Curse of the Stock Photo'd Book Cover
When we saw Chip Kidd a few years back, we think we remember him saying something about how every once in a while he'd go to a stock photo he'd found that he really liked, but how he wasn't that crazy about using something everyone in the world had access to for a hundred bucks. We could be misquoting, but we really don't care, because that introduction serves as a nice segue to this post we found by way of Tropist, "Cover Deja Vu: The Dangers of Stock Photography." In it, the site Novelish hunts down the stock images used in some fairly high-profile books. Some used the photos almost exactly as they were downloaded, whereas others flipped or extracted bits and pieces. However, with a couple, they show the exact same cover on two or three different books. Ouch. Email This Post |
