Cigarettes Possibly to Go Branding and Logo-Free in UK
Sure to upset designers working on these accounts, those who love visiting those vintage cigarette packaging sites, and, well, tobacco companies, first and foremost, comes the news that the UK is considering putting a ban on any and all branding or logos on any pack of cigarettes. While no one really has a strong belief that this will ever be able to make it through the government to become a law, the possibility is still out there, and it's interesting to consider something like this, a total ban on any sort of unique identifier for multiple products. We can't even imagine how crazy that would look behind the counter at a convenience store. Something like a miniaturized version of Sao Paulo? Here's a bit: A public consultation on tobacco-control measures started May 31. The government is proposing a ban on vending machines and shop displays. It's also seeking comments on banning logos, though not "specifically" proposing that, a consultation document shows. The government is also considering whether to prohibit sales of cigarettes in packs of 10, which are more affordable for children, and limit access to vending machines. Email This Post |
