Clio Honors Him for 4000 Commercials, We Honor Him for the “Ghostbusters” Logo

This year’s Clio Lifetime Achievement Award goes to motion graphics legend Bob Greenberg, the guy who has consistently blown our minds for 29 years. His work in over 4000 commercials and 400 films transformed the visual effects industry. And, because of his work in “Predator,” we’ll never see thermal imaging quite the same.

Bob Greenberg founded R/Greenberg Associates in 1977 with his title designer brother, Richard (remember how killer those “Superman” titles looked back in ’78?). They were the pioneers of digital production, melding their design techniques with new technology, and spawning a new generation of motion designers like Kyle Cooper. Recently, R/GA became a one-stop shop for companies to beef up their websites, like Target’s Design for All.

After accepting the award in Miami Beach in May, Greenberg will have yet another friend for his statuettes to play with: there’s the Academy Award he won in 1986, the 2003 Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award for Communications and the Chrysler Award for Innovation in Design.
