John Hockenberry’s back. “His name is DJ Spooky. His name is Paul Miller. His name is That Subliminal Kid.”

DJ S/PM/TSK: starts introducing himself by saying it is kind of weird that he, as a DJ, is there, but that music, visual culture, etc, is all related. His book, called Rhythm Science, is about that overlap. “All right, I’m going ot be talking about DJing, sampling, etc, and how graphic design influences our enviornment. You go into your attic and you find a violin and a painting, and you take it to a pawnshop. You’ve got a Stradivarius and a da Vinci. And the guy says well, Stradivarius wasn’t a very good painter and da Vinci isn’t such a good violin-maker.”

Ohhhhhhh.
