Dubai Is Weird

DubaiTheWorld1AFP.jpg

We got some (semi-snark-tastic) love from our boyz at Curbed yesterday, so today we’ll return the bloggy favor. Still catching up to the whole etiquette thing. Thanks to them for pointing us in the direction of the New Yorker’s Design and Architecture issue and, online only, an audio/video slideshow that shows just how crazy all the things going up in Dubai really are. We remember seeing ads for the Palm in various airports from O’Hare to Frankfurt (we are so well-traveled and just as pretentious), and then ads for The World, a step further. It’s funny. Sometimes in studio we would use pictures as plans but we’ve never seen a plan that’s supposed to make a picture. Whoa. It’s like a total, like, inversion.
