Okay, Designers Can Play Sports, But Only If Their Teams Are Named After Genitalia
You know, when it comes to design and sports, one axiom rings true: You can't win them all. So when we posted something slightly flip about the Academy of Art getting all jocky, RISD alumni Tim Belonax wrote us expressing concern: I feel as though I have an obligation to stick up for my fellow athletic designers out there in saying, "Hell yeah, we play sports (poorly)!" A good number of schools on the east coast (Pratt, Cooper Union, RISD) have sports teams (although none are Div. I to my knowledge). I'll think that RISD's teams have the best names; including The Nads (hockey), The Jugs (womens soccer) and The Balls (basketball). We also have the best mascot: Scrotie! And with utter disbelief, we clinked on his link and saw this mascot, in all its veiny glory. Ladies and Gentleman..
And what does Scrotie get them to cheer? Go Nads! We suddenly love Division II hockey. Email This Post |
