On the day after Valentine's Day, the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum will debut an exhibition curated by Fernando and Humberto Campana, the Brazilian designing duo that has created furniture from everything from bubble wrap and plastic tubing to stuffed alligators and "sushi." According to the Cooper-Hewitt, the designers will "mine the museum's collection for works that blend unexpected media, layer varied forms, and weave intricate patterns and lines." The exhibition will also include a newly commissioned work that will complete the Campanas' "TransPlastic" series (check out designboom's coverage of last summer's TransPlastic exhibition in London). "Like witnessing a growing process, the exhibition will start with two-dimensional surfaces, take on a third dimension with the embroidery works, and then evolve to objects that suddenly emerge to express a variety of scales and textures," said Fernando Campana in a press release.

The brothers will be on hand opening day, and that evening, they'll join Roberto Stern of H.Stern and Giuliana Michelotti of Edra (both companies they've designed for) in a discussion of their work at the museum. Be sure to register in advance online here or by calling the museum's education department. And if seats at the talk sell out before you get around to registering (don't say we didn't warn you), you could always try sneaking in with a few teddy bears and sitting on those.
