Kicking Off the London Festival of Architecture with Many Mini-Buildings
Staying in the UK for a couple more minutes, today is the big day, with the kick-off to the month-long London Festival of Architecture. There's sure to be a billion blogs a-buzzin' (we'll try to not overload you with whatever we dig up), but we think Building magazine's site is a good place to start. They've kicked off their first batch of coverage with talk of the numerous pavilions that have popped up all over the city, as well as providing some background on the festival by talking to Peter Murray, the guy running the whole show. Here's a bit about the quickie structures: The temporary pavilions have been developed by a wide range of organisations. A couple are designed by big-name architects such as Foster + Partners and Hopkins Architects, while the rest are the product of fledgling practices such as Tonkin Liu and 6a Architects, or artists such as Dan Graham and Toby Paterson.
