Everything Girard Under the Sun

It’s funny how some designers get busier after they’re dead, huh? Alexander Girard, for example, has had one heck of a year. A show at SFMOMA runs through the end of February, featuring his Herman Miller textiles and various accoutrements from the La Fonda del Sol restaurant. House just announced the Alexander Girard Alphablocks with the same “del Sols” as above, and a new Girard font which will be launched next year. And Vitra reissued his gorgeous wooden dolls which are sold at very un-toy-like prices at Design Within Reach.

Oh yeah, and doesn’t the Girard-designed Braniff Airlines logo still run at the end of every “South Park?” What a way to be immortalized.
