You loved his buildings! You swooned after his collages! Now get ready to cozy up to your very own Richard Meier-designed cardigan! That's right, the architect is the newest guest designer for Lutz & Patmos, the seven-year-old label that has collaborated with the likes of Yves Behar, Fabien Baron, and Jonathan Adler on limited edition luxe knits. "What we really love about [Meier's] architecture is that it's similar to our line," says Lutz & Patmos co-designer Tina Lutz in the January issue of W magazine. "It's clean and not fuzzy or tricky."

Hmm...not fuzzy, she says. We guess that means that mohair was out of the question! And indeed it was. According to W:

With the help of his 27-year-old daughter, Ana, who happens to be a designer, Meier set out to replace the blazer he normally wears with a soft cardigan. The result: a buttonless, V-neck cashmere and cotton cardigan for men, priced at $575, and a women's version with a self-tie belt, for $595.

According to Meier, the goal was "simple lines and a very contemporary feeling." And oh, the versatility! "You can wear it as a jacket or as a sweater, or with a shirt or t-shirt," he said. "It could be formal or informal." The sweaters--offered in a range of neutrals (black, gray, and white)--are in stores now (but don't yet appear on the Lutz & Patmos website), and ten dollars of each sale will go to Architecture for Humanity. And if the Meier collection sells out before you can get your hands on it, may we suggest their Van der Rohe blanket cardigan or Tschumi leggings?
