Fidel Castro: Architecture Buff?

Ever wonder who follows the day to day of the architecture world? Well, apparently you can count Fidel Castro in that mix. It’s been reported, in his latest public, televised outing, he said that he wants to stick around as long as Oscar Niemeyer, the Brazilian architect who is still working as he passes 100 years old. Granted, the story about Niemeyer has been circulating around a lot in the news lately, so Castro might have heard about it that way, but we prefer our version that finds the aging dictator buying big coffee table books about buildings and reading Archinect and Architectural Record every morning. And hey, maybe he’s even reading us from time to time. If so: we welcome you, comrade.
