Speaking of art that you can spend a million dollars on and then take with you on a tour of the paint thinning factory, the Frieze Art Fair is this week in London, starting today. Josh Spear has a brief write up all about the weekend-long series of auctions for incredibly expensive things. And Art Info has a particularly interesting slideshow called “Overvauled/Undervauled,” wherein they look at a handful of pieces up on the block, including a piece by everyone’s favorite mysterious rabble rouser, Banksy. It’s a copy of Michelangelo’s David, except that he’s wearing a bulletproof vest. The going price? They estimate somewhere between $238,000 and $297,000. And, get this, they say that that’s really undervalued. You see, that’s how you get enough money to paint an elephant in Los Angeles.
