How Did You Spend Fashion’s Night Out?

FNO BGzp.jpgHow did some of our favorite creative people spend Fashion’s Night Out, the retail-themed holiday formerly known as Georges Bataille‘s birthday? We hit the streets of New York last night to find out. A few of the highlights:

  • The “interdisciplinary creativity team” that is Andrew Andrew (pictured above) DJ’ed the night away at Bergdorf Goodman, where they took to their MacBook-fueled turntables amidst the Goyard sacs de voyage. The duo proclaimed the event “totally bonkers,” in a good way.
  • Meanwhile, elsewhere at Bergdorf’s, we admired Zac Posen‘s handpainted dresses (at right), in which we detected the sprit of Sam Francis, and then lovingly fondled pretty much everything on the fourth floor (that’s Chado Ralph Rucci territory, people!) before heading upstairs to enjoy the vocal stylings of Isaac Mizrahi and the Ben Waltzer Trio, not to mention the excellent display of John Derian decoupage.
  • Designer Lela Rose triumphed in a Top Chef-style cook-off that pitted her against the likes of Peter Som and Gilles Mendel.
  • Just up the block at Barneys, it was kiln or be kiln, as Jonathan Adler threw pots while Simon Doonan cheered him on.

  • The window of Christian Louboutin‘s Madison Avenue store hosted this Fragonard-inspired tableau vivant:

  • Prada’s Fifth Avenue store unveiled a window display designed by Vogue‘s Grace Coddington.
  • Model Coco Rocha performed an impromptu Irish step dance at DKNY. We heard that it was her birthday but didn’t get a chance to discuss her views on Bataille.
  • In the Meatpacking District, we spied Calvin Klein at the Standard, while the Theory bash made an outdoor lounge of Little West 12th Street.
  • As for the scene elsewhere downtown, there are only five words: Narciso Rodriguez in a Winnebago.
  • Our last image of the night was of these two guys, staying up late to polish Tom Ford‘s name over the door of his Madison Avenue store.
