If You Don't Want To See United 93, Wait For the Graphic Novel
At first we did a double-take at this headline: "It's a giant leap from 'Jughead' to 'The 9/11 Report.'" But then we pieced together from the report from Fox News that comics icons Sid Jacobson and Ernie Colon have taken the abstract play-by-play of the "9/11 Report" and organized it into a graphic novel. The forthcoming The 9/11 Report: The Graphic Adaptation breaks down the morning in a way that can help people understand the timing of the simultaneous events. We say brilliant. Publisher Thomas LeBien says the following: "If you're 80- or 14-years-old, you look at those timelines and it becomes more immediately clear the catastrophic nature of it all in a more gripping way than you might get from the report itself." We found this piece in Publishers Weekly with the image we've included above. And although we know, and you know, that "graphic novel" doesn't mean "comic strip," it seems that some reporters can't quite shake the connection. Our sister blog, GalleyCat has a good rant about the coverage. Email This Post |
