Lanvin to Design Collection for H&M

alber.jpgCome November, H&M shoppers may be clamoring for silk-wrapped pearls, Grecian-inspired frocks, and floppy bows. The Swedish fast fashion juggernaut has announced that it is collaborating with French fashion label Lanvin on a capsule collection of womenswear and menswear. Designed by Lanvin artistic director Alber Elbaz (pictured) and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver, the collection will go on sale November 23 in approximately 200 H&M stores worldwide. “H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less,” said Elbaz in a statement announcing the collaboration. “I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public.” No word on exactly what Elbaz and Ossendrijver have in mind for the masses, but H&M creative advisor Margareta van den Bosch forecasts looks that are luxe, modern, and playful, “with lots of focus on form and details for both women and men.” In a new experiment in fashion frenzy-stoking, H&M will reveal the collection online in a film that will be available to view November 2 on the retailer’s website.
