Mad About “Mad Men”
Promising to do for advertising what “The Sopranos” did for the mafia–whatever that means–”Mad Men” premieres tonight at 10pm/9pm Central on AMC, with a gorgeous show open by Imaginary Forces. But will this show really bring the creative process to prime time?
Troy Patterson calls it “vintage sex in the city,” a “gray flannel nightmare” says Robert Abele, Variety thinks it strikes a profound chord, Newsweek calls it must-see TV, Adam Hanft says it’s not the Sopranos of advertising, Jason A. Tselentis is hopeful, and we can’t remember the last time we watched AMC.
And how’s this for a variation on the typical drinking game? Tune in tonight with a pack of Lucky Strikes and try to match the characters cig for cig.
