Meanwhile, Frank Gehry Gets Sludge Slung from Fortune Magazine

Here’s how the afternoon goes: 1) “Hey, Frank, I heard that you made some list in Fortune Magazine! That’s awesome! Call me back, huh?” 2) “Oh, man, sorry Frank, I saw the list. Really apologize for that earlier message. Had no idea what it was for, I promise. Call me!” 3) “Hey, Frank? It’s me again. Just wondering why you haven’t returned any of my calls.” Such is the case with likely all kinds of people who put their collective feet in their collective mouths when finding out that yes, Frank Gehry did indeed find himself on a list of 101 things in Fortune. Only, unfortunately (puns!), it was in their “101 Dumbest Moments in Business.” And you probably already guessed what it was for, all his trouble with MIT’s Stata Center. But still, even Frank’s got to enjoy the writing behind this one, because it is pretty funny:

55. Frank Gehry
Who left R2D2 alone with the AutoCAD and peppermint schnapps?
MIT sues architect Frank Gehry, alleging that flaws in his design of the school’s $300 million Stata Center — which Gehry himself once described as looking “like a party of drunken robots got together to celebrate” — resulted in problems including cracks, leaks, and mold.
