How to Read Newspapers Online
Really great story we found by way of Andy Rutledge, Scott Karp's "JPMorgan Buys Bear Stearns: Following a Breaking News Story on the Web" over at Publishing 2.0. In the piece, Karp details how the Bear Stearns fiasco highlights some of the problems in publishing news to the web and how the designers behind major newpapers' websites deal with constantly changing news stories, instead of the old model, which, at most, only required revisions between the early and late editions. Karp also looks at alternate ways of reading the news, utilizing applications that allow you to better following along as stories develop. It's a fascinating look at that world and is apt to remind you of those information architecture and design hurdles you've been frustrated with from time to time. A highly encouraged read.
