Nicolas Sarkozy Announces Desire to Redesign Paris
While architecture and design firms are going through some tough times right now, there is one bright spot on the horizon, assuming the project does get realized: the remaking of Paris. France’s president, Nicolas Sarkozy, has announced that he wants to create a new “Grand Paris” a la Daniel Burnham‘s Plan of Chicago, with new gigantic parks and roads that make travel more inviting and functional within the famous city. This, of course, is a job that appeals to some of the biggest names in architecture, like Richard Rogers, who would love to a) be working on a big project again and b) have their name attached to what’s sure to become a regularly-noted piece of history.
