Last night at the Paper party in the Raleigh’s parking lot, the mood, vibe and energy was completely different than the other Art Baseliciousness we encountered (and lots more fun than being stuffed in a container). Kim Hastreiter curated a show by the artists at Creative Growth named “Art. (Another Way to Look at It).” Hastreiter asked the artists to reinterpret famous pieces by artists like Richard Prince, Damien Hirst, Barry McGee, Chris Johanson and more. Some of them—we won’t say which—were better than the originals. Cheryl Dunn also shot photos and video of the artists in costume, which adorned the walls. Just as clever was the soundtrack in the tent, where covers of songs were paired with their originals. As we peeked behind the DJ booth curtain, we saw it was none other than our favorite design entrepreneurs Andrew Andrew, decked out in Miami Beachwear. They’re DJing, like, every party down here.
