Richard Eckersley Dies at 65
It's an all-Heller morning here at UnBeige but this time on a solemn note: Nebraska-based graphic designer Richard Eckersley has died and Steven Heller has written his thoughtful obituary. Eckersley was born into a family of graphic designers in England and worked as a junior at Lund Humphries, which published the now-cult-classic Typographica magazine. He was in the US only one year before he took a job at the University of Nebraska, where he had lived since 1981. He focused on innovative book design, and was most famous for his typographic tricks in The Telephone Book, the first book he designed on a computer. Email This Post |
