The standing-room-only crowd at last night's Michael Bierut-as-James-Lipton-style sitdown with Steven Heller showed its support not with foam fingers or raised lighters but with an array of Heller masks that were handed out at the exhibition a few floors below. Everywhere you looked, there he was! The audience bobbed with pixellated Heller, cowboy-hatted Heller, Muppet Heller, and one Heller that looked vaguely Gandhi-like (or maybe that was just us, projecting).

We were thrilled not only when we spotted the real Heller in a sea of cardboard ones, but also when Lita Talarico, co-chair of the MFA Design Department at SVA, kicked off the event with a shout-out to UnBeige's declaration of Steven Heller Week! Now if only President Bush would sign the proclamation and make it official (this sort of delay would never happen if Michael Bierut were president).
