Preservation is a hot topic these ranging from efforts to save storm-ravaged Victorian-era homes in New Orleans to dented 1950s Lustron homes. It's so nice to have a glossy magazine devoted to this topic. Everything you ever wanted to know about preserving old buildings, places and things everywhere on the planet in 100 or so pages.

In the September/October issue of Preservation, there's an article ("Continental Shift") about how Britain's National Trust is ignoring many landmarks imperiled by storms, tides and floods. Still another piece on "My Old Kentucky Home". This particular writer is looking forward to reading a piece by Wayne Curtis on how Hurricane Katrina affected one of the great urban treks in the U.S. (Curtis recently published a book on rum and has written about architecture and travel for The New York Times). Also of curiousity is a piece on why author Eudora Welty stayed in Jackson, Mississippi.
