Shipping News
In this small item, Shipping News, on Herman Miller’s DesignLink is a link to a great photo essay on shipping pallets (so, that‘s how you spell it!) on a site called Polar Inertia. From the photo essay, some information about pallet design:
Pallets typically come in a 48″ x 40″ x 5″ high module, however they are manufactured in many different designs depending on weight load and end user specifications. The determining factor in the design is the requirements of the pallet jack lifting devices, which are used for moving the pallets.
There are lots of great photos, in the spirt of the the many many photos of stacked shipping containers I’ve come across during portfolio reviews at the gallery. (Most of the photos are not nearly as good the ones by Edward Burtynsky that I’ve linked to here.)
