It’s not terribly sexy to talk about the business side of fashion, but it’s a business, as all the entrepreneurs busting their guts to succeed and the well-known, established fashion designers will tell you. There are spreadsheets and other no-so-fun things to attend to. That’s what makes Fashion Incubator unique. It doesn’t go on and on about how wonderful Prada is this season or even how Jennifer Hudson‘s Oscar ensemble was the bomb. No, it talks about things like how patternmakers resist learning how to use CAD and what to do when good employees quit. So if you’re keen on starting (and keeping) your own line, this is a great blog to visit periodically.

At least we don’t think Keith Urban would be the topic of conversation on Urban Publicity. But we were hoping for something about Beyonce on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Or even Jennifer Hudson‘s visit to the Windy City. But nothing on either count. Perhaps things will heat up as the Oscars approach. This writer would even settle for some scoop on fashion designer Tracy Reese. Wait! The latest on the UP ticker? Rev. Run’s daughters are launching a pastry footwear line. Yes, you read rightly. Apparently each shoe will have a lipgloss tube attached to it, and will be wrapped up in boxes tied with satin ribbons just like a cupcake or some such pastry. This writer cannot think about shoes and food at the same time, it’s too much information. But she think it’s way cool Rod Stewart, Norah Jones, Joss Stone and others will be heading down to New Orleans for the 38th annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival April 27-29 and May 4-6. After Mardi Gras (today) but before the humid heat begins…
