“As Long as it Lasts…” Designer Tattoo Parlor Claims Its First Victim

tattoolounge.jpg

What can we say? We get excited about the fact that people will let someone dig a needle into their skin for an hour or two in the name of design. We stopped by “As Long as it Lasts…” booth last night where–before the exhibition officially opened to the public–someone was in the chair getting inked. Supercute Tobias Wong already had the KAWS one on his calf, too.

Like any tattoo parlor, this is a place where the cool kids hang out, and will definitely be the social center of the Design Miami hoopla. They’ve got a lounge perfect for relaxing while you watch others wince in pain. Bernadaud is serving Haagen-Dazs with Delphine Frey‘s porcelain cones next door. So the whole thing is kinda like a circus. With that pleasant buzzing sound in the air.

The first victim opted for Lawrence Weiner‘s Sink or Swim design. He didn’t cry or nothin’.

Great, But Where’s the Duff Beer?

The Simpsons Movie hype has reached a fever pitch this week with Springfield, Vermont winning the premiere and ever-expanding Flickr pools of the legendary 7-Elevens turned Kwik-E-Marts. 7-Eleven has a guide to some of the faux products that made their way onto Apu’s shelves, but via Murketing we learn there’s also a Vans artists series tie-in by peeps like Neckface, KAWS and Stash. According to Complex:

Vans hit up 12 staples in the underground art community to produce a series of Simpson-inspired sneakers, as part of an ultra-limited collaborative project. Allowing each artist the freedom of interpreting the way they viewed the crew from Springfield, each sneaker came out distinctively different, carrying a serious collect-ability factor.

On July 14, 100 pairs of 14 models will be available for $100 each at places like Undefeated, Supreme, and Dave’s Quality Meat. Sadly, they will not be available at the local Kwik-E-Mart. And you won’t find Duff Beer there either. Thank you, come again.
