The DIY Museum Part II

loading.jpg

Washington Post writer Linda Hales had us hooked from the first sentence of this article:

“The Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum is about to take its Web site where no museum has gone before.”

A revolutionary redesign of a design museum’s website design? Cool. Done by San Francisco firm Method? Rad. Let’s see it.

Well, actually, um, they didn’t really design anything yet. Hales breaks this to us this in the second sentence:

“Where that is isn’t absolutely clear, but it merits getting excited about.”

In fact, all they’ve done is hire Method. Who chatted strategy with John Maeda. And you should probably know the project will cost two million dollars. But the real issue here is, it looks like the Tate beat them to the punch.
