The Unofficial Obama Design Communities

We should add that what we just said about Banksy above also applies to the Obama campaign: you can’t post just one. But although it seems like we’ve posted a few stories recently, with Obama, it’s usually about the same thing: his campaign’s efforts in getting the design community involved and creating material. Our friends over at the Huffington Post were kind enough to drop us a line about this recent piece by Kristin Gorski, “Obama Website Design Inspires Young Artists Support and Votes,” which is a terrible title, but both an interesting recap of one of the best and smartest designed campaigns ever, as well as a look at all the officially-unconnected material created for it by the masses. Here’s a bit:

“Obama posts have been particularly popular on both Notcot.org and Notcot.com, receiving thousands of views, as well as many links throughout the Internet,” [founder Jean Aw] says. This type of attention hints at a new demographic subset of younger voters: creative digital activists; they make their own images and use technology effectively to mass-market them.
