For Those Who Just Learned Haettenschweiler Isn't a Kind of Cheese
This writer will readily admit that, thanks to a degree in English, he doesn't really always know the ins and outs of typography. Sure, he can read the words, and probably talk to you ad nauseum about what they might mean until you bash him over the head with the very same book, but in making that jump from "putting the words on there" to "hey, that looks incredible!" isn't always so easy. That's why Mark Boulton's "Five Simple Steps to Better Typography" is a blessing. Gives all that Typography 101 info and terminology, will not talking down to both beginner and refresher. And it is because of this most valuable tool, you're apt to now really appreciate the first UnBeige novel, "Lamar Alexander Meets the Frog People," for more than just its amazing illustrations (Alissa really does a bang up job with those crayons, no?).
