Lightroom: The Whole Deal on the New Deal
If you still haven't gotten a chance to try out the newest in the Adobe family, Lightroom, like the billion people who have downloaded the public trial, or heck, even if you did, you'll likely appreciate this whole rundown of the program over at Macworld. Personally, this writer is slow to adopt anything new (case in point: he's writing this post right now on a typewriter), but after reading all about it, he's slowing being convinced and can't wait to give it a spin. And even though we'd like to think we've spent enough time tweaking enough curves to fill a lifetime, and therefore can hold our own, this sounds the most interesting: Many users new to digital imaging become acquainted with curves and histograms, but those capabilities can take a long time to truly understand and master. One of Adobe's innovations in Lightroom 1.0 is a feature it calls "targeted adjustment." What this feature does is let you directly manipulate the tones and colors in your image by clicking on the tones you want to edit inside the image itself, instead of dragging points on a tone curve or moving sliders in a panel. It's a very intuitive tool, and one that I've had fun playing with. Email This Post |
