United State Mint Rebrands with Shiny New Logo and Box Sets

0819mintset.jpg

Outside of what we use to feed meters and buy penny candy, we’ll admit we don’t know a thing about the United States Mint other than that they make those shiny pieces of metal. That’s apparently the problem they’ve been having and they’ve hired branding firm Siegel + Gale to fix it. Launching a new branding campaign called “Connecting America Through Coins” (pdf), the firm has focused their first efforts on both a new logo, featuring a mid-air flipped coin, and redesigning the Mint’s Annual Sets, annual collections of coins that are “a significant portion of [the Mint]‘s retail business.” We dig the new look of the box sets they’ve redesigned and would buy one if we had any coins of our own. Other than selling these sets, we’re still not entirely sure why we need to be more aware of the Mint, but we were happy to hear from them and see that they’re making the effort. Now please send us 20 boxes. We need them for review purposes.
