When All That Good Design Gets You…Hated
Over at Core77, there’s a humdinger of an article up about design backlash (with an original image we loved so much, it’s lovingly reproduced here). Kevin McCullagh writes that it seems some people (we won’t name names, but he will) are suffering from a disaffection towards design. Those people seem to be the very same folks we’re looking to take design to its next level of success:
Philippe Starck sheepishly peered out of the cover of December’s Icon magazine, under the ‘I killed design’ banner. In an Observer article a few months earlier Stephen Bayley, the fiery British design critic, exclaimed “When I hear the word ‘designer’, I reach for my chainsaw.”
