Women and Code

0422womencode.jpg

Likely passed around quite a bit on the day of its posting late Thursday, but hey, we were in New Mexico, and so we’re getting to it now. It’s Jeffrey Zeldman‘s and An Event Apart‘s study: “Women In Web Design: Just the Stats.” It’s about exactly just that, figuring out the numbers of how many women are active in an industry that’s typically thought as of being dominated by men. And the overall findings: the industry is dominated by men. And it gets worse from there, mirroring the prejudices in countless other industries, with women not being promoted as often to declining numbers. It’s very interesting and insightful and they’ve promised more data as it becomes available to them in their studies. If you haven’t gotten a chance to read it yet, it comes highly recommended.
