Continue Sharing Instagram Pics On Twitter With This IFTTT Recipe

After sharing a few ways to post Instagram photos to Twitter after they disconnect, one commenter, Eric Schatz, asked if there was a reason why an IFTT trigger wouldn’t work.

We didn’t know if IFTTT was cutting off access to Twitter entirely (a la Instagram) since the company sent its users an email explaining that they would no longer be able to tap into the Twitter API, so all recipes that included Twitter would stop functioning after September 27th. Maybe it still will – who knows?

But as of now, you can use IFTTT to send stuff TO Twitter. You just can’t go the other way. Happy day.

Instagram Says Sayonara To Twitter

Ever since Twitter missed out on snagging Instagram, relations between the two tech companies have been strained. Twitter cut off Instagram’s “find friends from Twitter” feature, but Instagram found a work-around (of sorts) with @mention translations.

But now, it seems Instagram isn’t happy with that. And it isn’t happy with merely beating Twitter for the share of daily mobile users. Instagram is the one that wants out and they’ve taken steps to permanently severe cross-platform sharing in the future.

Twitter Rumored To Be Adding Photos Filters In Move To Battle Instagram

So we all recall the kerfuffle when Facebook snatched Instagram away from Twitter and co-founder Jack Dorsey stopped using the tool in a tiff.

And then Twitter took away Instagram’s API access, solidifying the rift. But then Instagram was all “in yo’ face, Twitter” as it came out with a workaround that promised to convert Twitter’s  photo-loving users faster than your favorite cult.

Well, according to The New York Times, Twitter is planning some pretty cool updates in the coming months, including photo filters “that will allow people to share altered images on Twitter and bypass Instagram.”
